We have been campaigning nationally for a pause to the roll out of Universal Credit so that the serious problems it is causing to many poor and vulnerable people and families can be resolved. From April 2017, the Sheffield Advocacy Hub will deliver all statutory advocacy in Sheffield. Sheffield Advocacy Hub is provided by Citizens Advice Sheffield, in partnership with Disability Sheffield, Voiceability and Cloverleaf Advocacy. All current clients of the four partners will continue to receive advocacy support in the same way – there will be no interruption or change.
We are pleased to present our new report which we have published today: Personal Independence Payment and the reassessment of Disability Living Allowance claimants.
The report appraises the introduction of PIP for people already receiving DLA. It draws attention to some serious concerns, including about the impact of this change on some older people, the difficulties people with mental health problems and Deaf people have with this transition, the quality of DWP decision making and the overall consequences of reduced or nil awards.
