New ‘Does Universal Credit Help Work Progression?’ Report

Citizens Advice Sheffield have published a report arising from interviews with clients who are on Universal Credit and working part time in Sheffield.

The report is based on interviews with an anonymised sample of Citizens Advice Sheffield’s client to see if the Universal Credit system is helping them with work progression to increase their income.

Is the new benefit system providing the promised support to help them progress in work and, if not, what could be done to improve the situation? This work has been undertaken by the Research and Campaigns team – Frances Potter, Tim Arnold, Kate McGimpsey and, in particular, by our postgraduate student, Ellie Jones who interviewed the clients and analysed the data.

You can read the report in full here.
