Help if you’re on a low income

If you don’t have enough money to live on, you might be able to get help to afford essentials like bills and food, for example from the Household Support Fund.

You should check if you can claim benefits – you might be able to do this even if you work, have savings or own a home.

The details you provide are anonymous and the benefits calculator should take about 10 minutes to complete, provided you have all your information such as any savings, income, pensions and existing benefits (for you and your partner).  If you run out of time, you can also save it and come back to it later.

However, if you are still unsure and need further help, then follow the instructions on screen and give us a call.

Check what benefits you can get

You might be able to claim benefits or increase your current benefits if you’re:

  • of working age and on a low income
  • sick or disabled
  • of State Pension age and on a low income
  • a carer
  • responsible for children

Lots of people miss out on benefits they’re entitled to – so it’s worth checking what you can get.
