Community Training

The CAS Community Training programme aims to upskill volunteers and front-line workers in local community organisations to provide first line guidance, information and signposting.

We empower trainees to:

  • Provide an effective triage
  • Address straightforward information queries
  • Understand when formal advice is required and signpost appropriately

Through this programme, we are spreading knowledge across the community, ensuring that more people have access to the right information quickly.

Available training:

  • What Citizens Advice does and how to access help and support (2 hours)
  • Helping people with Budgeting (2.5 hours)
  • Introduction to Benefits (3 hours)
  • Helping people with Fuel Poverty (2.5 hours)
  • Help for Older people (2.5 hours)
  • Overview of Universal Credit (3 hours) – NEW SESSION
  • Giving Practical Help (2 x 3 hours) – NEW SESSION for Community groups

We’re regularly updating our training offer.

If you’d like to discuss any other training, please email community.trainers@citizensadvicesheffield.org.uk

How to book

There are two ways to take part: we can come out to organisation and do sessions with  staff and volunteers, or individuals can join one of our open multi-agency sessions held in the City Centre / on zoom.  We recommend that if an organisation has at least 4 members of staff or volunteers who are interested it is much better for us to come out to them and run it in their community setting.

To book a session or to find out more please email community.trainers@citizensadvicesheffield.org.uk
